The
roof area begins to build up pressure somewhat like a pressure cooker. In a double storey situation the total heatload of the house ends up upstairs vis the stairwell. Cooling the attic area, in and of itself, is not going to make a great deal of difference.The main problem is the collection of heat in the living areas of the upper level. A means of allowing the heat to escape up through the ceiling and out the roof ventilator needs to be employed. Air-conditioned houses, either refrigerated or evaporative, benefit considerably by having a Condor Kinetic Roof Ventilator installed, to eliminate air conditioner overload and reduce power usage.
